In respect of plan no 56579 for the erection of a petrol station, ancillary kiosk and landscaping at Sainsbury’s Supermarket, London Road, Hazel Grove,
a member of the public spoke against the application on behalf of local residents,
and
representatives of the applicant spoke in support of the application.
It was then
MOVED AND SECONDED – That planning permission be refused on the grounds that the proposals would have a detrimental impact on:-
· traffic generation and congestion at the junction of the A6 London Road and Mill Street due to the intensification of the use of the site and the cumulative impact of this development and other recently granted planning permissions;
· residential amenity of residents of Woodgrove Court due the intensification of the use of the site outside of the current Sainsbury’s Store opening hours leading to additional vehicular movements and increased light pollution.
AMENDMENT MOVED AND SECONDED – That the Planning & Highways Regulation Committee be recommended to undertake a site visit in view of the Area Committee’s concerns over traffic generation and the impact on residential amenity.
