To consider a report of the Director of Place Management.

 

The report provides details relating to the Permanent and existing Experimental Traffic Regulation Order in relation to St. Thomas’s CoE Primary School, Heaton Chapel as set out in Appendix A of this report.

 

The Area Committee is asked to consider and comment upon the following proposals and recommends that the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services approves the Traffic Regulation Order set out in Appendix A of this report be established on a permanent basis.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance submitted a report of the Director of Place Management (copies of which had been circulated) detailing the Permanent and existing Experimental Traffic Regulation Order in relation to St. Thomas’s CoE Primary School, Heaton Chapel as set out in Appendix A of this report.

 

The following comments were made/issues raised: -

 

·       It was suggested that the alternative of permanent signage should be explored. In response, it was stated that there were school streets in the borough which had these installed so this option could be reviewed however the process was complicated.

·       The viability of camera enforcement for the scheme was questioned, to which it was stated that an application had been made to Government however this had been delayed as a result of the General Election.

·       Members welcomed the potential for camera enforcement on school streets.

RESOLVED – That the Cabinet Member for Parks, Highways & Transport Services be recommended to approve the Traffic Regulation Order set out in Appendix A of the report be established on a permanent basis.
