To consider a report of the Assistant Director - Legal & Democratic Governance.

 

The report provides an update on progress since the last meeting on decisions taken by the Area Committee and details the current position on area flexibility funding. The report also includes the current position on the highway and traffic management delegated budget.

A representative of the Assistant Director for Legal and Democratic Governance submitted a report (copies of which have been circulated) updating the Area Committee on progress on decisions taken by the Area Committee since the last meeting and the current position on the Area Flexibility and the Delegated budget.

 

The following comments were made/issues were raised: -

 

·       Members sought clarification on the status of the items contained in the report. In response, it was stated that a ‘Highways’ meeting is held with ward councillors to discuss the progress of the items in the report.

·       It was noted that the following two reports would be submitted to the next meeting relating to the –

o   Blockage on the corner on Park and Hartington Lane

o   The proposed parking scheme on the edge of Marple Town Centre

·       Members requested that officers look into modifying the ‘Disabled Bay’ on Town Street and that it be converted to a Disabled/Loading Bay for the purpose of assisting the local postman from receiving parking tickets.

·       Members also requested that a report on the Additional Fencing for the Seven Stiles Allotment be considered for Ward Discretionary Budget and that the report be submitted to the next meeting.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That the report be noted.

 

(2) That the Director for Place Management be requested to investigate the possible modifying of the ‘Disabled Bay’ on Town Street to a ‘Disabled/Loading Bay’ to assist the local postman from receiving parking tickets.

 

(3) That the Director for Place Management be requested to investigate the request for additional fencing for the Seven Stiles Allotment to be considered for Ward Discretionary Budget and that the report be submitted to the next meeting.

It was commented that there were issues that had been resolved but not removed, so Members would speak to officers regarding this.

A representative of the Assistant Director Legal & Democratic Governance (Monitoring Officer) submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) providing an update on progress since the last meeting on decisions taken by the Area Committee and details the current position on area flexibility funding. The report also includes the current position on the highway and traffic management delegated budget.

 

The following comments were made/issues raised: -

 

·       Members commented that an item involving replacing the give-way sign with a stop sign at the junction of Glossop Road and Lower Fold had not been included due to complications around making the sign, but that they were expecting it soon.

·       Members stated that problems around Ernocroft Road raised by a resident were being discussed with officers.

A representative of the Assistant Director (Legal & Democratic Governance) presented a report providing an update on progress since the last meeting on decisions taken by the Area Committee and detailing the current position on ward flexibility funding. The report also included the current position on the highway and traffic management delegated budget.

 

The following comments were made/issues raised –

 

·         The ongoing works being done at Moor End should be included in the report.

·         There was clarification related to the ongoing Highways review on Compstall Road to assess the feasibility of potential highways improvements.

·         The traffic calming referred to in relation to Compstall Road, did not necessarily refer to speed bumps and that the proposed calming had been raised in relation to a number of traffic accidents on the road.

·         Clarification was sought regarding the potential increase to the Ward Delegated Budgets and how this would be implemented. It was explained that a further pot of £10,000 had been agreed for each ward, but that the governance arrangements to manage the approval process was still being looked into and that any updates on the progress and criteria would be reported back to the Committee.
