This report provides results of a consultation on the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements (CRSTS) proposals to improve active travel routes between Bredbury and Woodley, which include the improvement of existing unbound footpaths / bridleways, modifications to existing junctions to improve safety and creating new cycling links to Woodley Precinct.

Representatives of the Director of Place Management submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) providing the results of a consultation on the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements proposals to improve active travel routes between Bredbury and Woodley, which included the improvement of existing unbound footpaths/ bridleways, modifications to existing junctions to improve safety and creating new cycling links to Woodley Precinct.
RESOLVED – (1) That the Cabinet Member for Economy & Regeneration be recommended to give approval to the implementation of the scheme and the legal advertising of the associated Traffic Regulations as detailed at Appendix B to the report, and subject to the receipt of no objections within 21 days, the subsequent making of the orders.
(2) That the Cabinet Member for Economy & Regeneration be recommended to give approval to the following scheme elements:-
(i) Section A – Resurfacing of existing bridleway between Bredbury Parkway and Mill Lane;
(ii) Section B – Resurfacing of existing footpath between Mill Lane Recreation Ground and Stockport Road East with street lighting provided and a new cycling and walking link from Rodney Drive to that path;
(iii) Section C – New junction layout provided at Rodney Drive / Mill Lane junction;
(iv) Section D – New road closure for vehicular traffic at Hyde Road / Mill Lane (west);
(v) Section E – New cycle link from Mill Lane (west) to the Toucan crossing on Hyde Road at Woodley Precinct;
(vi) Section F – Upgrading of the existing crossing on Hyde Road from a puffin to a toucan crossing.
(vii) Section G – To allow cycling on paths within Woodley Precinct.
