To consider a report of the Director for Place Management.

 

The report seeks approval for the introduction of an experimental 20mph speed limit order in the area known as Poet’s Corner in Reddish (South of Longford Road West).

 

The Area Committee is asked to approve the legal advertising of the following Traffic Regulation Order and recommend the Cabinet Member for Highways, Parks and Leisure Services approve those parts that are within 15 metres of a Strategic Route, and subject to no objections being received within 21 days from the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the order to be funded externally under the ITB programme:-

A representative of the Director for Place Management submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) providing details regarding the introduction of an experimental 20mph speed limit order in the area known as Poet’s Corner in Reddish (South of Longford Road West).

 

The following comments were made/issues raised:

 

·       Members enquired about the timescales for implementation. In response it was stated that it would be done before the end of this financial year.

·       Clarification was sought regarding the omission of Longford Road West from the scheme. In response, it was noted that this would need to looked at and would be reported back to the ward councillors in due course.

 

RESOLVED – That the Cabinet Member for Highways, Parks and Leisure Services be recommended to approve the legal advertising of the following Traffic Regulation Order and to approve those parts that are within 15 metres of a Strategic Route, and subject to no objections being received within 21 days from the advertisement date, the subsequent making of the order to be funded externally under the ITB programme:-
