The Chair reported that this item had been placed on the agenda at the request of Councillor David Meller.

Councillor Meller reported that a number of residents on the Tarvin Road Estate had expressed their frustrations in relation to vehicles being parked on the highway which frequently caused an obstruction to the free flow of traffic through the area.

It was requested that the Director of Place Management contact Mosscare Homes which provided much of the housing on the estate with a view to encouraging them to make provision for new or improved off-street parking within the locality.

Councillor Meller also highlighted similar issues on Abbey Road, Cheadle where parking was taking place on the grass verges which meant that routine maintenance of the verges could not be undertaken.  It was suggested that consideration could be given to the potential for the removal of some verges to provide additional parking capacity and that the awaited grass verge maintenance policy should be published as soon as possible.

RESOLVED – That the Director of Place Management be requested to investigate the issues raised as part of this item.
