A draft of the design guide was approved for
consultation earlier this year. The consultation has now taken
place and cabinet are being asked to
a) approve changes to be made to the design guide in response to
the feedback received; and
b) that the finalised design guide be published on the council's
website and used in development management decision making and
other development related discussions/processes.
The Cabinet has considered the draft Stockport Town Centre Residential Design Guide that aimed to set out the council’s design expectations for this area of the borough, and has:-
(1) Approved the proposed amendments to the Town Centre Residential Design Guide as detailed in appendix 1 to this report and outlined in appendix 2; and
(2) Approved adoption of the (amended) Town Centre Residential Design Guide for publication on the council’s website and subsequent use as a material consideration in development management and other development related processes.

Consultation on the draft design guide has
taken place in accordance with the council's adopted Statement of
Community Involvement. This included a period of general
consultation with the public, statutory consultees and other
stakeholders as well as:
- Reports to and discussion at the relevant area committees;
and
- Presentation to and discussion at a meeting of the Stockport Town
Centre West Mayoral Development Corporation Board.
