Decision Maker: Cabinet Member for Finance & Resources

Decision status: For Determination

Is Key decision?: No

Decision:

The Cabinet Member for Finance & Resources has noted that the Government will be distributing £100m of new grant funding in 2023-24 to local authorities to support economically vulnerable households in their area with Council Tax payments.

The Government expects Local Authorities to use the majority of their funding allocation to reduce Council Tax liabilities in respect of 2023/24 for working age and pension age Council Tax Support (CTS) recipients by up to £25, using discretionary powers under Section 13A(1)c of the Local Government Act 1992.  Councils can use their remaining funding allocation as they see fit to support vulnerable households with their Council Tax liabilities.

The Cabinet Member for Finance & Resources has then given approval to the administration of the Government’s Council Tax Support Fund as described in Section 2 and 3 of the report, and in line with the eligibility criteria set out in Appendix A.
