Purpose:

To secure Executive agreement to acquire a strategic site in the Town Centre to facilitate future regeneration objectives.

Decision:

The Executive Meeting considered a proposal for the Council to acquire the long leasehold interest in the land and property at Wellington Road North and Princes Street Stockport (Debenhams store) as part of one of the Council’s priorities of furthering the regeneration of Stockport Town Centre and has:-

 

·         approved the acquisition of the long leasehold interest in the property at Wellington Road North and Princes Street, Stockport

·         authorised the Corporate Director of Place and the Corporate Director, Corporate and Support Services, in consultation with the Executive Councillors (Finance) and (Regeneration), to settle the final terms of the agreement subject to a positive outcome to the final valuation and any outstanding due diligence.
