The Cabinet Member for Communities & Housing has approved proposals for the detailed design and construction of measures to prevent traveller occupation of the car parking on Melford Road, Hazel Grove. The costs of the scheme could be up to £50,000 and will be funded from the A6MARR Complementary & Mitigation Measures budget.
Concerns about the repeated traveller occupation on the turning and parking area on Melford Road were repeatedly highlighted during the recent A6MARR Complementary & Mitigation Measures consultation. In light of this, these proposals were brought forward ahead of other measures.
The measures included the installation of height barriers which will be maintained locked shut unless access for servicing by an HVG is needed and adjustments to kerb lines and footways to define the edge of the carriageway/ car parking areas.
