Purpose is to seek a decision on the transfer
of the remaining seven years of the existing arrangements from the
current provider, the Co-op to Dignity. This covers a range of
bereavement services presently provided to the Authority by the
Co-op under a 20 year agreement signed in 2003.
The Executive have approved the transfer of the contract for Stockport Borough Cemetery and crematoria services and lease agreements from Co-op Funeralcare to Dignity Funerals No. 3 Limited (a subsidiary of Dignity Plc), via Newco (Crematoria) 3 Limited as described in the report.
To maintain the contract arrangements with Co-op Funeral Care. This option was not pursued due to the recommendation of the Scrutiny Committee in favour of the transfer of the contract and due to the stated intentions of the current operator.
