Draft Planning Brief: North Reddish Junior and Infant Schools

Decision Maker: Executive Councillor (Regeneration)

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

The Executive Councillor (Regeneration) has approved the Planning Brief North Reddish Junior and Infant School.

The purpose of the planning brief is to provide planning guidance to help direct the future use of the school buildings and site following their vacation in the summer of 2011. The brief provides advice on acceptable and unacceptable uses for the site and buildings, as well as the planning policy background, and will inform the marketing of the site and form the basis for negotiation with potential developers.

The school buildings are Grade II listed, so there is a presumption in favour of their retention. In consequence, the repair, adaptation and sympathetic conversion of the school buildings represent the most desirable design solution in terms of both historic building conservation and sustainable development.

The draft brief was subject to a public consultation exercise from 21 June to 2 July 2011. The responses to the consultation formed part of the report to the Executive Councillor.
