Purpose:

To make a further recommendation regarding short term loan finance to Cheadle and Marple College to cover the period April to July 2015 including due diligence considerations.

 

To report on discussions with Stockport and Cheadle and Marple Colleges on their investment and estate programmes and their ongoing plans for sustainability; and to consider how the Investing in Stockport programme might support the sector.

Decision:

The Executive considered an update on the phasing of the short term financial support package to Cheadle and Marple College previously agreed by the Executive, the outcome of external assurance on the financial information provided to the Council and an update on plans to develop a detailed programme of work to develop the possibilities of fuller collaboration between the Council and the Higher and Further Education Sector in Stockport and agreed that

 

·         the short term loan finance to be provided to Cheadle and Marple College as detailed in the exempt report be approved; and

·         the intention to start collaborative work on the strategic blue print for the Higher and Further Education sector, working with all stakeholders, be noted.

Councillor Holloway left the meeting and took no part in the discussion or vote on this item.
