Purpose:

The five year agreement to collect water charges on behalf of United Utilities is due to expire on 31st March 2013. The collection of water charges has been a huge success for Stockport Homes and the Housing Revenue Account (HRA). This report details the background of the current agreement and outlines the terms of a proposed new agreement from April 2014, together with the associated risk and rewards.

Decision:

The Executive Councillor (Communities & Sustainability) has approved a five year extension to 2019 of the agreement between the Council and United Utilities for Stockport Homes to collect water charges on behalf of United Utilities.

 

The current five year agreement to collect water charges on behalf of United Utilities is due to expire on 31st March 2014. The collection of water charges has been a huge success for Stockport Homes and the Housing Revenue Account (HRA). The extension of the agreement by a further five years will provide Stockport Homes and the Council with approximately £4.3m of commission over the agreement period. This income can be used to improve services for tenants.
