Purpose:

This report requests CLT approval to seek member agreement to CPO land to achieve satisfactory title which will enable the land at Higher Hillgate/Higher Barlow Row to be developed as 24 affordable homes by Stockport Homes Group of behalf of SMBC.

Decision:

The Cabinet has considered a report setting out a request to use compulsory purchase powers to acquire land at Higher Hillgate/ Higher Barlow Row, Stockport, to enable the development of 24 affordable homes by Stockport Homes Group within the Housing Revenue Account and has given approval to the approach set out in this report for the use of the legal mechanism of a Compulsory Purchase Order to acquire/ assemble the development land and achieve satisfactory title to deliver an affordable housing scheme.

None.

Equality and/or Environmental Impact Assessment: The proposed CPO and consequent regeneration of this derelict site will result in the land being brought back into usefulness for the benefit of the community. In this case the proposal to develop the site post CPO will provide 24 affordable homes for people in affordable housing need.
