Purpose:

To seek approval of the Council’s response to the Community Right to Challenge (derived from the Localism Act) and in particular the process that is suggested for responding to Expressions of Interest received from the community.

Decision:

The Executive Meeting considered a proposal for the local implementation of the Community Right to Challenge contained within the Localism Act 2011 which came into force on 27 June 2012. The Right allows relevant bodies to submit expressions of interest in providing a service and the Council must carry out a procurement exercise for that service.

 

The Executive Meeting then approved the approach to the Community Right to Challenge for Stockport as detailed at section 4.0 of the report.
