I work in a busy hotel where guests requests are important to us
receptionists, on a number of occasions guests have asked for full
wheelchair accessible taxi's to take them to local transport links,
hospital and medical services and airport runs, I and the rest of
the hotel team have had to ring at least 10 different taxi services
including greater Manchester and south Manchester wheelchair
accessible taxi services, none of which service the cheadle
stockport areas, and all of them say no, it is out of their area,
it can take minimum of 2 hours to try to persuade one of these
companies to go out of theit service area to help our guests, which
isn't good at all, considering most wheel chair users are in a rush
to get to appointments from our hotels to local hospitals and
medical centres.
In this day and age, with the available technology, I wish to make
my guests lives easier, and cut the waiting time down for an easy
access taxi to a 10 - 15 minute wait, rather than the 2 hours of
getting "no, sorry we don't service your area"
It has been recommended by a taxi firm that Stockport council are
notified, and this is why I am making this ePertition.
