School Transport Assessment for special needs children needs to be reviewed to taken into other fact

We, the undersigned call on the Council to perform a review of School Transport assessment form for children with special needs as it currently only takes into account distance from home to school at the initial stage. You have to go to appeal for other criteria

The Council's school transport policy has been poorly written with no apparent scoring assessment for each question asked. The Council is only using the single criteria of distance to school before they send out a letter indicating your special needs child will not receive transport. A fair system needs to be implemented as both parents of admin staff are being caused unnecessary distress

Council response

The Council is currently in the process of reviewing its policy on SEN transport provision. All those currently in receipt of this service will continue to do so and officers from the Service will be in touch in due course, if they have not already been.
