The Cabinet Member for Sustainable Stockport has given approval to the extension of the existing Public Space Protection Order (PSPO) to prevent car cruises for a further three year period.

Gatherings of vehicles had previously taken place on a regular basis in Stockport which had led to increasing numbers of complains about dangerous driving, anti-social behaviour, litter and noise nuisance.

Since the introduction of the PSPO, there has been a significant reduction in car cruising in Stockport.  Seven fixed-penalty notices have been issued since May 2017, and the PSPO has been effective in preventing a number of attempts to restart car cruises.

The results of the consultation strongly supported the extension of the PSPO for a further three year period.

The Cabinet Member for Sustainable Stockport has approved Stockport’s Playing Pitch Strategy for the period 2020 to 2025 and the Local Football Facilities Plan for the period 2020 to 2030. The Playing Pitch Strategy will now become an adopted policy of the Council.
