To consider a report of the Deputy Chief Executive

 

The report provides an update on progress since the last meeting on decisions taken by the Area Committee and details the current position on ward flexibility funding. The report also includes the current position on the Area Committee’s delegated budget.

A representative of the Deputy Chief Executive submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) updating the Area Committee on progress since the last meeting on decisions taken by the Area Committee and the current position on Ward Flexibility Funding.

 

With regard to the unauthorised incursion at Diamond Jubilee Park, Cheadle, a representative of the Deputy Chief Executive reported that the Council’s Neighbourhoods Team was aware of the encampment and was liaising with colleagues at Greater Manchester Police and the Council’s Public Health Department. Public Health Officers had been requested to carry out a welfare assessment and this was expected to happen no later than 17 June 2020. Once it was known whether there were any needs that required addressing, the Council would consider the most appropriate next steps.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That the report be noted.

 

(2) That the update on the unauthorised incursion at Diamond Jubilee Park, Cheadle be noted and Members of the Area Committee be kept up to date with developments.

The Chair reported on the success of Cheadle FM, a local community radio station, which had been established in May following a grant of £5,480 from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust.

To consider a report of the Corporate Director, Corporate and Support Services

 

The report advises the Area Committee of the financial standing of the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust and requests Members to formally adopt the Financial Accounts for the year ending 31 March 2020 which can be found at Appendix One.

 

The Area Committee is further requested to consider the position of the Fund in real terms and to advise as to the investment strategy that they wish to follow.

A representative of the Borough Treasurer submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) advising the Scrutiny Committee of the financial standing of the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust and requesting Members to formally adopt the Financial Accounts of the Trust for the year ending 31 March 2020 which were attached as Appendix One to the report. The Scrutiny Committee was requested to consider the position of the Fund in real terms and to advise as to the investment strategy that they wished to follow.

 

RESOLVED – (1) That the contents of the report be noted.

 

(2)  That the Financial Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2020, attached as Appendix One to the report, be formally adopted.

 

(3)  That the Area Committee’s decision to allocate £50,000 from the Trust to support voluntary groups for children and young people, young carers, addressing loneliness amongst children and young people, and supporting sports groups for people of all ages be reaffirmed.

 

(4)  That the sub-group previously established to consider applications for funding from the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust, comprising Councillor Anna Charles-Jones, Keith Holloway and John Pantall, be reconvened to consider the distribution of the Trust during 2020/21.

 

(5)  That the current investment policy be retained.
