To approve as a correct record and sign the Minutes of the meeting held on 4 September 2017.

 

 

Minutes:

The Minutes (copies of which had been circulated) of the meeting held on 4 September 2017 were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair.

Declarations of Interest

Councillors and officers to declare any interests which they have in any of the items on the agenda for the meeting.

Councillors and officers were invited to declare any interests they had in any of the items on the agenda for the meeting.

 

No declarations of interest were made.

Community Engagement

3.(i)

Chair's Announcements

To receive announcements from the Chair about local community events or issues.

Minutes:

The Chair reminded all those present that from Friday 24 November 2017, the Redrock complex would be open to the public. The opening evening would be held on Thursday 23 November 2017.

3.(ii)

Public Question Time

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair of the Ward Committee on any matters within the powers and duties of the Ward Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice (Questions must be submitted prior to the commencement of the meeting on the cards provided. These are available the meeting.  You can also submit via the Council’s website at www.stockport.gov.uk/publicquestions.

Minutes:

Members of the public were invited to put questions to the Chair on any matters within the powers and duties of the Area Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice.

 

One question was submitted raising concerns at the behaviour of some anglers using the waters in Reddish Vale Country Park.

 

The Committee discussed the concerns raised by the questioner and it was agreed that a representative of the Stockport Federation of Anglers be invited to the next meeting.

 

RESOLVED – That the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration be requested to invite a representation of the Stockport Federation of Anglers to attend the next meeting to discuss concerns raised in respect to fishing on the waters in Reddish Vale Country Park.

Petitions

To receive petitions from members of the public and community groups.

No petitions were submitted.

3.(iv)

Ward Flexibility Funding

To consider any applications for Ward Flexibility Funding or to receive feedback from organisations who have received funding.

 

The following groups have confirmed that they will attend the meeting:-

 

1. Brinnington Community Art Group

2. Reddish Villa JFC

Minutes:

The Democratic Services Manager reported that no applications had been submitted.

 

Brinnington Community Art Group

 

Representatives of the Group attended the meeting and provided an update in respect to how the ward funding allocated to the group had been spent. The main aim of the group was to provide an outlet for adults who social isolation, depression and anxiety. However the group had expanded its profile by arranging a number of community events and establishing the Brinnington Events Team. The next major event would be the Brinnington Christmas Market on Saturday 9th December 2017 between 11am-5pm.

 

The following comments were made/issues raised:-

·         The street party for the Queens’ birthday party had been a great success as had the summer fair and the Halloween party.

·         The group hoped to hold four main events in 2018.

·         The group worked in conjunction with FLAG and officers from Stockport Council to identify individuals who may be socially isolated or suffer from depression/anxiety.

 

On behalf of the Joint Ward Committee, the Chair thanked the representatives for their continued excellent work in the Community and that if the Committee could offer any support in organising the events in 2018 – the group should not hesitate is asking for assistance.

 

RESOLVED – That the report be noted and the representatives of the Brinnington Community Art Group be thanked for their attendance and presentation.

 

3.(v)

Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund

To consider any applications for funding from the Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund or to receive feedback from organisations who have received funding.

Minutes:

There were no funding applications to consider.

 

4.

Update on the Management of Reddish Vale Country Park

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration will attend the meeting and provide an update on issues affecting the management of Reddish Vale Country Park.

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration attended the meeting and provided an update on issues relating to Reddish Vale Country Park.

 

The following comments were made/issues raised:-

·         The pond project was now almost completed.

·         £6,000 remained in the Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund. It was suggested that a brochure be produced to highlight and promote the projects that the legacy money had been spent on and that it be made available through the Visitors Centre.

·         An event to celebrate Christmas would be held on Sunday 10 December 2017.

·         Works were being undertaken on the Community Orchard towards the Lapwing Lane part of the Country Park.

·         The Arc Project involving the installation of decorative manhole covers and signage was now complete.

·         Councillors requested that further information be circulated in relation to the Corporate Away Day Events hosted in the Park.

 

RESOLVED – That the report be noted.

Future Agenda Items

Councillors and members of the public are invited to suggest items for inclusion on future agendas.

RESOLVED – That the Democratic Services Manager be requested to include the following items on the agenda for the next meeting:-

 

1) An update on Ward Funding from Reddish Villa Football Club.

2) Stockport Anglers Federation – issues relating to the use of the waters in Reddish Vale Country Park; and

3) An update from the Friends Group on proposals for the Spring Clean 2018.
