The Minutes (copies of which had been circulated) of the meeting held on 1 September 2014 were approved as a correct record.

Chair's Announcements

To receive any announcements from the Chair of the Joint Ward Committee.

Minutes:

The Chair reported that this would be his last meeting as Chair of the Ward Committee; as it was his intention to stand down in order to enable another Councillor to be elected Chair in the next municipal year. The chair further reported that he had agreed with a request from Cllr Kate Butler for an item to be placed on the next agenda of the Ward Committee to allow for a presentation from representatives of Reddish Vale Technology College.

Public Question Time

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair any matters within the powers and duties of the Ward Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice.  (Questions must be submitted prior to the commencement of the meeting on the card provided.  These are available at the meeting. You can also submit via the Council’s website at www.stockport.gov.uk/publicquestions)

1.    Friends of Reddish Vale Country Park.

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration submitted an application for funding from the Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund from Friends of Reddish Vale Country Park requesting funding towards a memorial/nature activity trail in memory of Frank Bramwell.

RESOLVED – That a representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration be requested to make a grant of £3,000 to Friends of Reddish Vale Country Park for funding towards the memorial/nature activity trail in memory of Frank Bramwell.

To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration.

The report provides overview of current projects being undertaken/planned at Reddish Vale Country Park.

The Joint Ward Committee are invited to consider and comment on the report.

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) providing an update on current projects at Reddish Vale Country Park.

The following comments were made/issues raised:-

 

·         Whether work on the river bank would have any effect on the Friends of Reddish Vale Country Park’s nature trail.

·         The importance of the river revetment works being done in cohesion with National Grid and the potential cost implication of not doing so was commented on.

·         Council officers were looking into potential funding from The Veolia Environmental Trust or Stockport Homes for the river revetment works.

RESOLVED – That the report be noted.

Members are requested to confirm dates for future meetings of the Joint Ward Committee. Suggested dates are as follows:-

·         Monday 14 September 2015 at 6.00pm

·         Monday 7 December 2015 at 6.00pm
