Minutes:

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) providing the ward committee with an update on the Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund Projects. The report provided details in respect to current project which included upgrades to the two on site Mosaic Trails and the installation of country style picnic benches. The report further requested the Ward Committee to give consideration to making a contribution from the Legacy Fund towards a project being carried out by the Stockport & District Angling Federation (S&DAF) who were installing four floating islands on the pond which would provide protection for fish from predatory birds. The islands would be planted with a combination of plants recommended by the Environment Agency.

The Committee heard representations from a member of the Stockport & District Angling Federation and from the Friends of Reddish Vale Country Park. Representatives of the Friends Group felt aggrieved that they had been refused an allocation from legacy money to support a project at the pond, although the Ward Committee were unable to ascertain when and who had been asked to consider this request, nor when a decision had been taken.

Having considered the report and heard about the array of projects currently underway in the park and those planned in the near future, the ward committee:-

RESOLVED – (1) That the Democratic Services Manager be requested to send an application for Ward Flexibility Funding to the representative of the Stockport & District Angling Federation to enable him to apply for ward funding to support the project as the Ward Committee did not wish to make an allocation from the Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund on this occasion.

(2) That the Democratic Services Manager in consultation with the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration be requested to design an application form to enable Community Groups to bid for funding from the remainder of the Frank Bramwell Legacy Fund and that applications be submitted to future meetings of the ward committee for consideration.
