The Minutes (copies of which had been circulated) of the meeting held on 30 June 2020 were approved as a correct record.

3.

Exclusion of the Public and the Public Interest Test

To consider whether it is in the public interest to exclude the public during consideration of agenda item 4 ‘Planning White Paper – Planning for the Futur’; and where the public interest in maintaining the exemption outweighs the public interest in disclosing the information.

RESOLVED – That in order to prevent the disclosure of information which was not for publication that was ‘information relating to the financial or business affairs of any particular person (including the authority)’, as defined in Paragraph 3 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended), the disclosure of which would not be in the public interest, the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration of agenda item 4.

Planning White Paper - Planning for the Future

To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration.

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration. submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) which updated Members on the Planning White Paper.

 

The following comments were made/issues raised:

 

·         Members questioned how the proposals in the Planning White Paper would impact upon the planning appeals process.

·         A short discussion took place relating to consultation and engagement with the public.

·         Members acknowledged that it was important to try and positively influence the process as far as possible.

·         A number of questions were raised by Members in relation to greenspace, employment land and affordable housing. In response, Members were advised that they should send in their comments and that these would be co-ordinated and form part of the Council’s formal response to the White Paper.

 

RESOLVED – That the report be noted.
