Minutes:

Nick Whelan (Traffic and Asset Manager) attended the meeting to seek views and comments on possible Complimentary Measures to improve traffic management in light of the A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road.

It was explained that the Council was in the process of implementing Mitigation Measures in High Lane and Hazel Grove as a result of the anticipated changes in traffic in parts of the communities following the completion of the A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road, and views were being sought from local residents on additional Complimentary Measures that would improve traffic in Hazel Grove as a result of the anticipated decrease in traffic levels.

It was clarified that suggestions made at the meeting would inform the development of a suite of proposals that would then be subject to formal consultation and decision making processes as appropriate.

Council officers facilitated two workshop groups to enable Councillors and members of the public to provide them with feedback on the current traffic arrangements and how they could be improved.

RESOLVED – That the views expressed during the workshop be considered by the Highways and Transportation Department to inform the development of proposals for A6 to Manchester Airport Relief Road Complimentary Measures that would be subject to formal consultation.
