Open Forum - Stockport CAN Funding and Summit 2021 pdf icon PDF 338 KB

To consider a report and associated presentation of the Corporate Director (Place) & Deputy Chief Executive.

 

This report provides all Area Committees with an overview of how Stockport Council are progressing a Stockport Climate Action Now (CAN) Summit, an online event being held on 9th November 2021, and the CAN Funding, a new funding scheme for microprojects that will directly reduce or mitigate carbon emissions in Stockport.

 

The Area Committee is recommended to

 

·         comment on the report, including feedback on plans for both the Stockport CAN funding and Climate Summit.

·         submit suggestions for representation and invitation to the climate summit on 9th November.

Partial demolition, refurbishment and conversion of currently vacant listed building, Belmont House, to 4 no. residential apartments and 1 no. residential townhouse. Plus erection of new build elements comprising: 7 no. residential apartments, 3 no. 3 storey residential townhouses and 2 no. 2 storey residential townhouses, plus additional landscaping and amenity spaces. Total of 17 no. new residential units.

 

The Area Committee is recommended to grant planning permission, subject to:-

 

·         Conditions

·         The applicant entering into a Section 106 Agreement to:

-       Secure a phasing strategy for the repairs/restoration of Belmont House;

-       To ensure that should the scheme become viable in the future, that developer contributions can be sought at that time; and

-       Secure developer contributions towards the ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ restrictions proposed.

 

·         No new substantive issues being raised by an extended public notification period explained at the beginning of the report.

This report is regarding the planned trial of measures proposed as part of the Cheadle and Cheadle Heath Active Neighbourhood project. The report provides the results of a recent consultation and recommends that the trial should not go ahead until further engagement with the public and key stakeholders has been undertaken.

To consider a report of the Corporate Director (Corporate and Support Services) and Deputy Chief Executive

 

The report advises Members of the financial standing of the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust and for Members to formally adopt the Financial Accounts of the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust for the year ending 31 March 2021, which can be found at Appendix One.

 

The report also provides an update to inform Members of the financial standing of the Trust as at 31 August 2021, indicate the amount of money available for distribution to organisations and provide commentary on the relevant performance of investment funds.

 

The Area Committee is recommended to:-

 

·         Note the contents of the report;

·         Formally adopt the Financial Accounts of the Brookfield Park Shiers Family Trust for the year ending 31 March 2021;

·         Decide upon the policy that they wish to adopt in respect of the distribution of the Trust; and

·         Advise as to the investment policy that they wish to follow.

Following the 6th May 2021 Local and Combined Authority Mayoral Elections, the Elections Office has undertaken a review of the polling station arrangements in all wards, considering feedback provided following the poll.

 

The Area Committee is requested to comment on and note the proposed changes to the polling station arrangements detailed in the report, and recommend that the Chief Executive gives approval to them.
