Exclusion of the Public and the Public Interest Test

To consider whether it is in the public interest to exclude the public during the consideration of agenda items 6-8 that are marked "not for publication" by virtue of the paragraph 1 of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended), as they contain ‘information relating to an individual’

 

Minutes:

RESOLVED – That the public be excluded from the meeting during consideration if Items 6 to 8 to prevent the disclosure of information which was not for publication relating to an individual as defined in Category 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 (as amended), the disclosure of which would not be in the public interest, would not be fair to the applicant and would breach their data protection principles.

Declarations of Interest

Councillors and officers to declare any interests which they have in any of the items on the agenda for the meeting.

No declarations of interest were made.

3.

Urgent Decisions

To report any urgent action taken under the Constitution since the last meeting of the Committee.

Minutes:

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration reported that the Corporate Director had not taken any urgent actions since the last meeting of the Committee.

 

RESOLVED – To note that no urgent decisions had been taken.

Public Question Time

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair and members of the Committee on any matters within the powers and duties of the Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice. (Questions must be submitted prior to the commencement of the meeting on the cards provided.  These are available at the meeting).

5.

Report on Level of Taxi Fares to Apply from 1 June 2017

To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration.

 

The report details proposals to consider a fares increase for taxis with effect from 1 June 2017.

 

The Committee is requested to consider an increase of 5% in taxi fares, to authorise officers to advertise the fares proposal to come into effect on 1 June 2017, subject to any objections and for Members to further instruct officers to undertake an annual review of taxi fares.

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) which requested the Committee to consider a fares increase for taxis with effect from 1 June 2017.

 

RESOLVED – (i) That the report be noted.

 

(ii)That the increase in taxi fares of 1% from 1st June 2017 be approved.

Report Concerning a Small Lottery Registration

To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration.

 

The report advises members of a small society lottery registration.

 

The Committee is requested to consider the recommendation contained within the report.

Minutes:

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) which requested that the Committee consider the immediate revocation of a small lottery registration under the Gambling Act 2005.

 

The Committee interviewed the Trustee and Promoter of the small lottery registration in relation to these matters.

 

RESOLVED – That the licence be revoked immediately.

To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration.

 

The report informs Members of the proposed licensed hire car vehicle driver’s convictions.

 

The Committee is requested to consider whether this applicant is a fit and proper person to hold a hire car vehicle driver’s licence.

A representative of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) which requested the Committee to consider whether the applicant was a fit and proper person to hold a private hire driver’s licence following consideration of the information contained within the Disclosure and Barring Service’s Disclosure.

 

The Committee interviewed the applicant in relation to these matters.

 

RESOLVED – That the application be granted.

The Committee is requested to consider whether this applicant is a fit and proper person to continue to hold a hire car vehicle driver’s licence.
