Chair's Announcements

Minutes:

It was announced that a ‘Bramhall’s Got Talent’ event would be held on Saturday, 4 October 2014 at 11.00 am in Bramhall Village Square.

 

It was further reported that the Cheadle Hulme Family Market would be held on Saturday, 18 October 2014 at 11.00 am in Cheadle Hulme Shopping Centre.

4.(ii)

Neighbourhood Policing

Councillors and members of the public are invited to raise ‘Neighbourhood Policing’ issues with the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager reported that representatives of Greater Manchester Police had been unable to attend the meeting.

Public Question Time

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair of the Area Committee on any matters within the powers and duties of the Area Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice (Questions must be submitted prior to the commencement of the meeting on the cards provided. Public Realm

The local Public Realm Inspector will attend the meeting to provide an update on matters raised at the last committee meetings. Councillors and Members of the public are invited to raise issues affecting local environmental quality.

Minutes:

Carolyn Turner (Public Realm Inspector) attended the meeting to report on current issues and to answer questions from councillors and members of the public in relation to environmental and highways issues within the area represented by the Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme South Area Committee.

 

The following comments were made/ issues raised:-

 

·         A discussion took place on the progression of leaf clearance teams between different areas of the Borough following leaf fall during the Autumn period.

·         The resurfacing of the footway on Ladybrook Road, Bramhall would commence at the end of 2015.

·         The installation of posts on the mowing strip on Highfield Road, Cheadle Hulme had been partially completed with the remainder due imminently.

·         Resurfacing of the footways on Pennine Road, Cheviot Road and Chiltern Close, Bramhall had been ordered.

·         A community litterpick was due to take place in Woodford on Saturday, 27 September 2014.

·         It was reported that a chevron sign was missing on the Woodford Road roundabout and a bollard had been removed on the access to the roundabout from Chester Road, Woodford.

·         Cleansing vehicles continued to miss Newlands Avenue, Bramhall from their routine cleansing programmes as the vehicles being used were too large to negotiate the avenue.

·         Concern was expressed with regard to maintenance vehicles acting on behalf of Network Rail restricting access to Heathbank Road, Cheadle Hulme by blocking the carriageway.

 

RESOLVED – That Carolyn Turner be thanked for her attendance.

Members discussed the proposals to erect a number of additional road signs as part of this scheme and requested that the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration discuss further the requirement for these additional signs with the Cheadle Hulme South ward spokesperson prior to the submission of the final scheme to the Executive Councillor (Communities & Sustainability) for approval.

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager submitted a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management and Regeneration (copies of which had been circulated) detailing the findings of a consultation exercise and seeking approval for the introduction of ‘No Waiting At Any Time’ and time limited ‘No Waiting’ Traffic Regulation Orders on Cheadle Road, Turves Road, Albert Road & Hulme Hall Road, Cheadle Hulme.

 

RESOLVED – That the Executive Councillor (Communities & Sustainability) be recommended to give approval to the following scheme at a cost of £1,075 (to funded from the Strategic Route Budget):-

 

Proposed No Waiting at Any Time

 

Albert Road, Cheadle Hulme, south east side, from the north easterly kerb line of Hulme Hall Road for a distance of 41 metres in a north easterly direction.

 

Hulme Hall Road, Cheadle Hulme, both sides, from the south easterly kerb lines of Albert Road & Turves Road for a distance of 32 metres in a south easterly direction.

 

Hulme Hall Road, Cheadle Hulme, south west side, from a point 5 metres north west of the north westerly kerb line of Acacia Avenue to a point 5 metres south east of the south easterly kerb of Acacia Avenue.

 

Turves Road, Cheadle Hulme, south east side, from the south westerly kerb line of Hulme Hall Road for a distance of 34 metres in a south westerly direction.

 

Turves Road, Cheadle Hulme, north west side, from the south westerly kerb line of Cheadle Road for a distance of 60 metres in a south westerly direction.

A representative of the Democratic Services Manager submitted a report (copies of which had been circulated) requesting the Area Committee to nominate Councillors to lay wreaths at Remembrance Day Services at Bramhall, Cheadle Hulme and Woodford War Memorials on Sunday, 9 November 2014.

 

It was reported that, with the agreement of members representing the Cheadle Hulme South ward, the laying of a wreath at Cheadle Hulme War Memorial would this year be conducted by a member from the Cheadle Hulme North ward.

 

RESOLVED – That the following Councillors be nominated to lay wreaths on Sunday, 9 November 2014:-
