The Chair reported that the Bramhall Festival had taken place on 24 June 2017 and extended the thanks of the Area Committee to the Bramhall Together Trust for their continued work in making the annual event a success.

 

It was further reported that a summer fair was taking place between 11am and 4pm on Sunday, 16 July 2017 to mark the opening of a new play area at South Park, Cheadle Hulme.

Neighbourhood Policing

Councillors and members of the public are invited to raise ‘Neighbourhood Policing’ issues with the local Neighbourhood Policing Team.

PC Carl Cummings and PCSO Maureen Crehan (Greater Manchester Police) attended the meeting to answer questions from Councillors and members of the public in relation to Neighbourhood Policing issues within the Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme South area.

 

The following comments were made/ issues raised:-

 

·         The level of burglaries within the area remained a cause for concern and the police continued efforts to educate the public in relation to crime reduction measures.

·         Concern was raised in respect of anti-social behaviour within the Happy Valley, Bramhall.

 

RESOLVED – That PC Cummings and PCSO Crehan be thanked for their attendance.

Public Question Time

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair of the Area Committee on any matters within the powers and duties of the Area Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice (Questions must be submitted prior to the commencement of the meeting on the cards provided. Public Realm

The local Public Realm Inspector will attend the meeting to provide an update on matters raised at the last committee meetings. Councillors and Members of the public are invited to raise issues affecting local environmental quality.

Carolyn Turner (Public Realm Inspector) attended the meeting to report on current issues and to answer questions from Councillors and members of the public in relation to environmental and highways issues within the area represented by the Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme South Area Committee.

 

The following comments were made/ issues raised:-

 

·         The footpath between Bodmin Drive, Bramhall and the Sunrise development was overgrown.

·         A street name plate on Hillcrest Road, Bramhall had become obscured by overgrown vegetation and had also become illegible.

·         A car sales company was using the highway to advertise vehicles for sale on Bramhall Lane South.

·         A number of saplings had been planted on the grass verge along Chester Road, Woodford and it was commented that these would make it difficult for farm vehicles to access Hilltop Farm.

 

RESOLVED – That Carolyn Turner be thanked for her attendance.

To consider a report of the Corporate Director for Place Management & Regeneration.

 

The report details a proposal to resurface the footway, including re-kerbing, outside house numbers 8 & 10 Syddal Road, Bramhall.

 

The Area Committee is recommended to give approval to the resurfacing of the footway outside house numbers 8 & 10 Syddal Road, Bramhall at a cost of £3,711 to be funded from the Area Committee’s Delegated Budget (Bramhall South & Woodford ward allocation).

To report details a proposal for the introduction of limited waiting restrictions on Mountfield Road, Bramhall.

This report is part of the Executive’s continued Stockport wide response to road safety around schools, with the purpose of ensuring our children are safe walking to and from school. Some wards have already invested in the purchase and management of a Mobile Speed Indication Device. To that extent, where it has not already been facilitated, Area Committees are requested to consider their role in promoting road safety around schools and to indicate if this is an option they would like to pursue.

RESOLVED - That approval be given to the purchase and the subsequent installation and maintenance of a mobile speed sign for use within the Bramhall and Cheadle Hulme South Area at a one off cost of £3,324.84 and an anticipated recurring annual cost of between £1,462.50 (year one) and £1,937.50 (years two and three) to be funded from the Area Committee’s Delegated Budget (33.3% from each ward allocation) subject to the Area Committee being consulted on the siting the sign.
