To approve as a correct record and sign the Minutes of the meeting held on 20 June 2016.

Minutes:

The Minutes (copies of which had been circulated) of the meeting held on 20 June 2016 were approved as a correct record and signed by the Chair subject to deletion of “McGann” in the list of members present and the substitution thereof “McGahan”.

Declarations of Interest

Councillors and officers to declare any interests which they have in any of the items on the agenda for the meeting.

Councillors and officers were invited to declare any interests they had in any of the items on the agenda for the meeting.

 

No declarations of interest were made.

3.

Urgent Decisions

To report any urgent action taken under the Constitution since the last meeting of the Committee.

Minutes:

No urgent decisions were reported.

4.

Public Question Time

Members of the public are invited to put questions to the Chair on any matters within the powers and duties of the Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice.  (Questions must be submitted prior to the commencement of the meeting on the card provided.  These are available at the meeting. You can also submit via the Council’s website at www.stockport.gov.uk/publicquestions)

Minutes:

Members of the public were invited to put questions to the Chair on any matters within the powers and duties of the Area Committee, subject to the exclusions set out in the Code of Practice.

 

No public questions were submitted.

Publicity in relation to the Code of Conduct pdf icon PDF 1 MB

At the meeting of the Standards Committee on 20 June 2016, members considered a report in relation to the complaints made about councillors during 2015/16.

The Committee requested that the Monitoring Officer submit a report to the 5 September 2016 meeting of the Committee in relation to the provision of information to the public with regard to the Code of Conduct including information provided both electronically and in traditional formats. The report provides details of the means by which the public can access information relating to the Code of Conduct specifically, and ‘standards’ generally on the council website.

 

The Committee is recommended to comment on and note the report.

Minutes:

The Chair reminded the Committee that at the last meeting on 20 June 2016, members considered a report in relation to the complaints made about councillors during 2015/16 and had requested the Monitoring Officer to submit a report to this meeting in relation to the provision of information to the public with regard to the Code of Conduct including information provided both electronically and in traditional formats.

 

The Monitoring Officer introduced a report (copies of which had been circulated) which provided details of the means by which the public can access information relating to the Code of Conduct specifically, and ‘standards’ generally on the council website.

 

The Committee recommended that staff in libraries etc should be aware of the procedure for making a complaint about a reach of the Code of Conduct by a Councillor

 

RESOLVED – That the report be noted.
