Decision:

The Executive Councillor (Communities & Housing) has approved the making of a Public Space Protection Order to prevent car cruises.

The Order is necessary to deal with problems created by car cruises in Stockport. Gatherings of vehicles have taken place on a regular basis in Stockport. This has led to increasing numbers of complaints about dangerous driving, anti-social behaviour, litter and noise nuisance.

In addition the presence of large numbers of vehicles on car parks in the Town Centre adversely affects customers and employees of businesses. The car parks mainly affected are Council owned and no permission exists to hold these events.
