The Area Committee considered the feedback from a consultation with residents on proposals to convert the existing free permit parking scheme on Ripley Avenue, Great Moor to a paid scheme and rejected the proposal on the grounds that it did not receive the support from 51% of residents and therefore was not in accord with Council’s policy.
Alternative options considered:
To seek the approval of the Cabinet Member for Communities & Housing to waive the 51% consultation support requirement to enabled the Are Committee to approve the revocation of the existing Traffic Regulation Order and its replacement with an Order to allow for a paid-for permit scheme. This was rejected on the grounds that the consultation response in support of the proposal was insufficient to meet policy requirements.
