Decision details

Proposed Replacement of the Council's Telephony Systems (General Exception)

Decision Maker: Executive

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: Yes

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Purpose:

The Executive will be asked to consider the proposal relating to the replacement of the Council’s three existing corporate telephony systems which have now reached 'end of life' with a single system. This would involve the implementation of a single Unified Commination’s system based in the Council’s data centre

Decision:

The Executive has approved the upgrade to the Council’s telephony systems set out in Option 3 (section 4.5) of the report, as the Council’s current telephony systems were now no longer supported.

Alternative options considered:

(1)   Retain the existing systems – current equipment is no longer supported by the manufacturer and would involve entering into a support agreement with a third party

(2)   Replace the existing systems entirely – this is likely to cost £300k more than the preferred option.

Reason Key: Significant expenditure or savings;

Equality and/or Environmental Impact Assessment: As this is an IT systems replacement an Equality or EIA is not applicable.
