Composition of the Council

The borough of Stockport is made up of 21 wards with 3 councillors representing each ward.

The council is composed of 63 councillors (as of 15 May 2023):

Liberal Democrats 29
Labour (inc Labour & Co-operative) 24
Edgeley Community Association 3
Green 3
Independent Ratepayers 3
Independent 1

Councillors are normally elected for a period of four years and elections usually take place on the first Thursday in May on three out of four years.
